Randomizing Randomness

Ok, we've all had them. Those random spam or speculative emails which clog up our inbox. Instead of an annoyance, I see them as an opportunity to flex my typing fingers and give my brain a stretch. I call it 'Randomizing Randomness' and here's my latest attempt. Meet William, he's enquiring about a room at our 'ahem' hotel! Here we go...

Good day,

I want to make a Reservation for a group of 4 people coming to your area
from 20th to 30th of June 2013. Please do tabulate/write down the total cost of the accommodation for the 10 Nites.
We will prefer 2 double rooms but if is not available then we will go for 4 single rooms OR an apartment that will be ok for the 4 persons for the 10 Nights. Also we will be happy if any special discount is given to us.
Get back to me immediately with the total cost, and kindly confirm if you accept check payment.

Kind Regards,
Williams

And my response:

Thanks for your enquiry.

As much as we would love to accommodate your group, unfortunately our presidential suite is fully booked during your requested period by the Azerbaijan Royal family.
Most of our other rooms are booked out to the Swedish Lesbian and Gay Netball association and their partners as there is a tournament on.

However we do have one small suite available for those dates but you will need to bear with us. Once the police forensic team have finished swabbing the room for DNA following the disappearance of our regular guest Karl Lagerfeld and his pet lion, we would be happy to release the room to your group at a cost of £1200 per night.

As you may be aware we strive to keep standards particularly high here at the Go Create Studios Hotel and we would expect your group of guests to do the same. We insist on each guest partaking of a full body hose down on entering the lobby, don't worry, we have a special private booth to preserve your modesty. If you would like to take lunch or dinner with us, we insist you wear nothing but Dupion Silk gowns so as not to patena our hand woven lounge seating.

Alternatively, you could use Go Create Studios to produce you some wonderful advertising using our highly creative team, which would enable you to make enough cash to open your own hotel and banish all those hideous expense claims.

Kind regards
Jervais
Hotel Manager and Creative Director
www.gocreatestudios.com

Ok, so what would your Randomizing Randomness response be to this?

Hot off the race track

'Gentleman, start your engines'.
I don't know about you, but if this was my car and I'd spent an extortionate amount of money on returning it to it's former glory, I'm not sure I'd want to throw it around a track at neck-braking speeds 'just for fun'.
But that's what the owners of the beautiful Ferarri Daytona love to do. Whatever you think about cars, you can't ignore the beauty and skill of craftmanship which has returned this once unloved vehicle to it's former glory. The workmanship is spectacular and even if, like me, you don't fully undertand what all this means, it still sounds damn clever; Converted to Group IV Competizione specification from a road car in the mid-seventies by Swedish Ferrari dealer and racer Ulf Boman, and extensively campaigned through the 70’s, ‘80s in Europe and subsequently in the USA. Returned to the UK early 2011. Race prepped by Ian Gwynne at BGMSport. Some of the works recently undertaken by our very clever clients are;

Complete strip to bare metal

Remedial metalwork to repair localized corrosion.

Fabrication of rear brake ducts

Metalwork to allow fitment of Monza filler cap

Fettling and fitting of:

New aluminium bonnet and frame

New aluminium door skin

Fully riveted as per original

Full rewire with period materials including ancillary lights and reworked dash

Interior re-trim to racing specification

New Perspex throughout incorporating vents and sliding panel

Full repaint in two-pack to match original livery

This Ferrari is now back racing around Europe and appears on various YouTube clips.
Impressive eh?
It's not all about exhaust fumes and bare metal though...smell that freshly printed literature...we wrote and produced this ad to help Thornley Kelham communicate the inspiring rebuilding and restoration work they do. It's running in this months (Nov) edition of Octane UK. Don't forget to keep an eye out for more of their ads. If you think this is interesting, you can check out more of our Thornley Kelham work on our homepage here: www.gocreatestudios.com, but for now, drive carefully and no rubber-necking.

Pretty Ugly

What an eye openner. Seeing cars (or transit vans in this case) actually being built is a real treat (expecially for someone who sits behind a desk fall day colouring in). Ok, so the robots don't have a mind of thier own like in the films, and the sparks don't fly but it's still an inspiring place to be. Working on this special little brief (which I'll divulge once it's live) has got me thinking about how much beauty there is in industry. I remember being an avid reader of the Russian Constructionist movement whilst I was studying. I've always been a believer that form should follow function, that things should exist for more than aesthetic beauty alone.

There's so much beauty in a factory or construction site because it is built for function alone. It almost looks wrong, it grates on our senses and makes us feel alive...doesn't it?
In-fact, I think we've just found our next mission. Find the most ugly place you can, and make it look beautiful through the lens of a camera. We'll post the results right here or check in at our facebook page to see the results GO TO FACEBOOK >
